Stamp-Making for the Clay Artist with Ayla Mullen (Sept. 29th, 10am-1pm)

$85.00

Join Bellingham artist Ayla Mullen to learn how to make and use clay stamps for decorating your pots!

In this one day workshop (no experience required!) you will learn how to design, shape, and carve original stamps out of clay; how to design multiple interlocking stamps for pattern creation, and how to use bisque fired stamps to create textural designs in soft clay.

Students will end the workshop with 2 or more original stamps of their own design, which they can take home to fire in their own kilns, or leave at Clayhouse to be fired and either picked up at a later date or shipped to your address.

This will be a fun, creative workshop, with a balance of learning techniques to maximize your decorative success as well as exploring the joy of creation and self-expression. Students are encouraged to bring drawings, images, or shapes and patterns that inspire them to use during the workshop, and the instructor will also supply materials to draw visual inspiration from for the stamp making process. NO DRAWING EXPERIENCE OR SKILL is needed for this class! If that little voice in your head is telling you that you can’t draw, this class is for you! If you draw all the time, this class is for you! We will approach this technique in a simple, unintimidating way that is accessible for folks of all skill levels.
